Le célèbre producteur de Marvel, Moon Knight, s’associe au tout premier film de Junayed Alavi, Sapiens

Marvel’s Moon Knight producer Peter Cameron has come on board Sapiens as a co-producer. The debut feature film from independent filmmaker Junayed Alavi, based in West Bengal, is shaping up to be an upcoming « marvelous » first. Adding a touch of science fiction to realism, the film Sapiens, currently in production, has also welcomed Ms. Marvel actor Asfandyar Khan.

This promising feature film will not be Cameron and Alavi’s first joint project. They have already embarked on the artistic path together for Alavi’s horror short film, Hunger. Peter served as an executive producer for the title, which was eventually nominated and screened at the Festival del Cinema di Cefalu in Italy in 2023.

In addition, you may recognize Cameron from his other Marvel credits, WandaVision, Werewolf by Night, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which he co-wrote and co-produced.

About Sapiens

Produced under the banner of Alavi Motion Pictures with Peter Cameron as the film’s co-producer, Sapiens is set in a dystopian future. Indian independent filmmaker Junayed Alavi wrote the screenplay during the lockdown. His partner, Firdoushi Begum, is also an important member of the production team.

Sapiens revolves around two opposing Dalit and Brahmin families. In addition to the socio-cultural implications of the divide, these two families clash in an Indian village colonized by cyborgs in West Bengal.

Ms. Marvel actor Asfandyar Khan plays a central role in the film as the narrator who has witnessed the apocalypse and its aftermath. Alongside him, newcomers Kalyan Goswami, Bulbul Ahamed, and Anirbaan Guha also star in the film.

Sapiens is shot in various parts of Birbhum, West Bengal. The audience will be able to watch it in three languages: Bengali, Hindi, and English.
